Ralph Lauren wowed the fashion world at his autumn/winter 2012 show at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week.
The show kicked off to the theme music of ‘Downton Abbey’ and the models that paraded down the parquet floored, crystal chandelier lit runway did not disappoint. Clad in sumptuous sable, wool, tweed, satin and velvet fabrics embellished with embroidery, brooches and feathers and accessorized with stunning shoes and the most beautiful selection of traditional style hats. Oh the hats! Bowlers, top hats, flat caps and cloches, oh my!
Although the collection had a decidedly 1920’s ‘Downton’ theme it was not in the least ‘costumey’ but instead showed traditional fabrics and cuts in a refreshing light.
In my humble opinion Mr. Lauren’s best show in years.
